Hummus

Chickpeas  are part of certain traditional diets for over 7,500 years. They are a type of legume that offer a range of health benefits. Chickpeas help to increase satiety, boost digestion, keep blood sugar levels stable, increase protection against disease and more. It’s nutrition is a potent package of protein, vitamins and minerals, which is why they are often included in many healing diets.

Difficulty: Everyone can cook it!


 Ingredients:

– 200g/7oz canned chickpeas
– 2 tbsp lemon juice or more
– 2 garlic cloves, crushed
– 1 tsp ground cumin
– pinch salt
– 1 tbsp tahini (sesame seed paste)
– 4 tbsp water
– 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
– 1 tsp paprika


How to do it:

Step 1: Combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, tahini, and water in a food processor, and blend to a creamy purée.
Step 2: Add more lemon juice, garlic, cumin or salt to taste.
Tip&Tricks – adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lemon juice or olive oil if needed.
Finish: Before serving, add some extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with red paprika. Serve with warm pita bread.
